The Strela-3 is a man-portable air defense surface-to-air missile system developed in the Soviet Union in the mid-60s. It was based on the Strela-2 that had poor performance in the field. The Strela-3 however, was significantly changed and was able to shoot down a F-16 fighter plane with it's new infra-red homing seeker head that wasn't as easily fooled by flares than the Strela-2.
