"The Pig", as it was known during the conflict in Vietnam, was the M60 light machine gun. The M60 is a light machine gun, firing 7.62mm rounds, and introduced in 1957. The M60's spiritual ancestor was the German MG42, which saw service in World War II. The M60 is one of the weapons that has been in service with all branches of the US military, and during the Vietnam conflict, it was the workhorse of the infantry.
