The AW system is almost unique in being a purpose-designed sniper rifle, rather than an accurised version of an existing, general-purpose rifle. In games, it's best known from the first person shooter Counter Strike that many believe started of the FPS multiplayer games as we know it to date. It was a "one-hit kill" (including arms and legs) sniper rifle that was known both as the AWM (Arctic Warfare Magnum) as well as the AWP (Arctic Warfare Police sniper rifle). Gameplay of this sniper rifle can be found at the end of the first multiplayer footage we've seen from Black Ops, it's where we took the screenshots just below from.
